The fine print

Privacy policy

Last updated September 24, 2026

Imposter is a party word game. This policy explains what information the service handles when you create or join a game.

Information we collect

We collect the information you provide to play, including:

  • Your player name and a browser-generated player identifier.
  • Game settings, room codes, votes, and the information needed to run a room.
  • Basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and request logs.

How we use information

We use this information to create rooms, keep games in sync, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and operate the service. We do not use game content to build advertising profiles.

Service providers and retention

The service relies on infrastructure providers, including Cloudflare, to host the site and store game data. Room data is temporary and is removed or becomes inaccessible when a room expires or is deleted. Logs may be retained for a limited period for security and operations.

Your choices

You can choose not to provide a real name and can stop using a room at any time. Because rooms are designed for short-lived play, you should not submit sensitive information as a player name.

Children

Imposter is intended for people who are old enough to use online services in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the service changes. If you have a privacy question or request, contact the operator of this site through the channel where you found it.
